I am humbled by the honour of last Tuesday, 15 September 2009 being elected as the Mayor of Holroyd.
Our growing city faces real challenges that must be solved in the next four years.
We need to do more to fix our roads and footpaths. We need to do more to clean our city of the blight of graffiti. We must make tough decisions to prepare for the challenges of ahead.
The election result of September 15th makes clear that the people of Holroyd want these challenges addressed cooperatively. The voters gave no one party an outright majority; but instead have insisted that all parties work together.
That’s why I welcome the election of Peter Monaghan of the Labor Party as my deputy. I look forward to working with him and all other Councillors as we implement an agenda of change for the people of Holroyd.
I particularly look forward to working with a fresh new team, in partnership with both the Labor and Liberal Councillors.
My priorities include:
Push the State Government to make a decision about grants for the urgent preservation of Linnwood House
A decision back from the RTA on the Boral Link Road on it’s future management
Finalising the State Governments Plans for revised bus routes
Regaining control over the safe removal of asbestos in Holroyd Local Government Area
Guildford Community Centre
Maintain saving as it is vital for the successful modernization of our infrastructure and prepare for the challenges of Climate Change.
As Mayor, I am committed to transparency and openness. I am going to make it my priority to meet as many residents as possible.
Mayor, Clr John Perry.
