Holroyd City Council

Holroyd Heritage Awards Presentation

The Mayor of Holroyd City, Clr Greg Cummings will present the 2009 Holroyd Heritage Awards before the Council meeting of 1 September 2009, at 6:30pm in the Council Chambers.

Heritage Awards and Certificates of Merit are given to congratulate homeowners for their marvellous work in maintaining and restoring their heritage properties, and to primary and secondary school students to encourage an interest in the heritage of Holroyd. This year, for the first time, the focus has been on the work by local young people rather than on property owners.

Mayor Cummings said: “This year, there has been a much greater interest in the ‘Keeper of the Stone Award’, from a wide age-range of students working in both written and artistic media. Our young community members are congratulated for their active interest in Holroyd’s heritage and their participation within the Awards program.”

“We applaud our young “Keeper of the Stone”, Remona Mekdessi, for her keen understanding and appreciation of heritage. And well done to our runners-up for their enthusiasm and artistic skills.”

The winners are:
