Holroyd Council can do!

Council offers New Service for Owners of Lost Pets

On 23 June 2008 Council launched a new look website. A feature of the new website is an online reporting system for lost pets.

“Council is continually striving to reduce the number of animals that end up in our local impounding facility and it is hoped that this new initiative will provide another avenue to assist in reuniting owners with their lost pets as soon as possible,” said Mayor, Clr Dr John H Brodie.

If you have lost your pet, you can log onto Council’s website, complete a form (including a photo of your absent friend), and the information will be posted on the website for other members of the public to see.

The other side of the equation is for residents who find a wandering pet to look and see if anyone has reported the animal missing and, if so, immediately contact the owner. However, if the animal is not listed then please fill in a Found Pet Report.

Mayor, Clr Dr John H Brodie said, “This is a service that if fully utilised by the public will no doubt assist in reuniting pets with their owners. We appeal to all to remember that it is there and use it whenever you lose a pet, or observe a wandering animal. You never know who might be looking desperately for it!”.

Other animal features on the website include a list of Holroyd animals currently impounded at the Blacktown Animal Holding Facility and a Pet of the Week advertisement.
