I prefer starting work earlier and finishing earlier. I have time after work to do activities before the sun sets. It’s also a 9 day fortnight with flexible work arrangements.
Staff and Management are great and easy to get along with. Council works together to ultimately achieve the same goal. Staff are rewarded for their performance.
Great avenues for staff — a great social club, counselling, mentors and other resources to help staff with their personal and working lives.
My role is Community Development Officer. Community Development is one of my passions in life so to be working in this role is fun and inspiring.
Part of my role is getting to know different cultural groups in the community and building relationships. I am privileged to be welcomed into some of these communities.
Working with consultative committees allows me to hear amazing stories and work with committed volunteers who are able to share their ideas for social change with Council.

You are surrounded by professional people willing to assist you in daily work and career progression. This is complemented by training offered to you.
The work is varied and rewarding, One day you may be discussing in-depth scientific matters relating to land contamination, noise mitigation and the next day you could be involved in a community education project or investigating an environmental pollution incident.
The varied nature of the work and professional manner in which it is conducted makes a career at Holroyd Council a satisfying one and you are sure to make good friends along the way.

I enjoy working for Council as an apprentice because it is flexible and allows me to excel in my training. I do various types of Council signage which makes my job more interesting as I wouldn't get the same opportunity working elsewhere.
