Conditions of employment are in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award 2010. Council's salary structure consists of twenty-three grades with an entry point and three competency/performance steps in each grade. Placement and progression within the structure is based on qualifications, experience, competence and performance.
In order to be considered for an interview you should meet all of the essential selection criteria for the position, outlined in the position description. Your written application should explain how your knowledge, skills and abilities relate to these essential criteria.
In your application you should include:
Education and Qualifications: List all relevant education undertaken at registered training facilities. Include the name of the institution, dates attended and the qualification achieved eg; degree, certificate etc. Provide copies of any certificates and formal qualifications in your application but be prepared to show the original certificates at interview.

Employment History: List all employment beginning with your current or most recent employer, together with start and finish dates of positions held and a brief summary of responsibilities and achievements.
Further Work Related Activities: Provide details of any other activities which may relate to the position to support your application.
Referees: Provide the names, position titles, addresses and telephone numbers of two referees who can detail information about how you meet the selection criteria. Obtain permission from your referees before you nominate them.
If you are successful in gaining an interview you will be informed by telephone. Please inform the person arranging the interview if you have any special requirements eg wheelchair access.
A Selection Panel consisting of at least three people will conduct interviews.The panel will consist of employees from the department/occupation related to the position and at least one independent person either external to Council or from a section unrelated to the vacant position.
The panel will attempt to determine your suitability for the position by asking a combination of technical questions and questions about your experience which relate to the essential and desirable criteria and job tasks listed in the job description.
The interview will follow a structured process and the panel will ask all applicants the same questions. They may follow up or explore particular issues from individual applications. You should attempt to answer all questions and provide as much detail as possible to assist the panel to recommend the most suitable applicant.
Child protection requirements apply to some designated positions. In the case of a child-related employment position, the "Working with Children Check" will be conducted and forms are provided for applicants to give consent for the Check to be authorised on their behalf. Proof of identification is required to assist with the process.
