Holroyd Council can do!

Freedom of Information

Holroyd Council makes various formal documents and other information freely available to the public. These may be available on this website or in person at the Administration Centre.

Council is committed to open administration practices and encourages community access to information. However, there may be times when a formal application under the Freedom of Information Act (FOI) will be required. You will need to complete an application for access to request a document (a document being paper, computer data, film, map, video, audio tape or other created material).

  2. Refunds may apply as a result of successful internal reviews and successful applications for amendment of records.
  3. No application fees may be charged for internal reviews in relation to amendment of records.

A 50% reduction in fees is available for:

  • Children, people with a Pensioner Health Benefit Card, or those on equivalent incomes
  • Non-profit organisations who can demonstrate financial hardship
  • Matters which are seen to be in the public interest

After the request is made Council will decide as soon as possible within 21 days whether access to the document is granted, defered or refused.

If you are refused access, you may request a review or appeal the decision. Reviews are conducted either internally, by a complaint to the Ombudsman or through a review application to the Administrative Decisional Tribunal.

The FOI determines the only grounds for Council to defer or refuse access.

More information on Freedom of Information is provided by the NSW Ombudsman.
