Traffic Management

New Traffic and Parking Signs

You may request new traffic and parking signs, such as stop signs, load limit signs and parking limit signs.

Requests must be in writing and include:

  • Street name
  • Suburb
  • Nearest cross street
  • Type of sign
  • Reasons and supporting information

All requests for new signs must go before Council's Traffic Committee. Council's Traffic Engineer will contact the customer if further information is needed from them and to let them know the progress and outcome of the request.

Maintenance of Traffic Signs

To have the following signs replaced you will need to contact the RTA on 13 17 00.

  • Give Way
  • No Standing
  • Roundabout
  • Keep Left
  • No Stopping
  • Speed Limit
  • Loading Zone
  • No U Turn
  • School Zone
  • Left Lane Must Turn Left
  • One Way
  • Stop
  • Left Turn Only
  • Parking Signs
  • Traffic Signals
  • No Entry
  • Pedestrian Warning
  • Two Way
  • No Parking
  • Pedestrian Crossing
  • Wrong Way Go Back

For the replacement of all other traffic signs, including street name signs, contact Council's Customer Service Centre on 9840 9840 or email web2@holroyd.nsw.gov.au.

For maintenance of traffic signs please provide:

  • Location details
  • Type of sign
  • Extent of damage
  • If it is causing a hazard

If it is causing a traffic hazard for vehicles or pedestrians call the RTA Traffic Management Centre on 131 700.

Safety and Traffic Calming Devices 

Requests for the installation of a safety device/traffic calming device, or reporting of a problem with an existing device, must be submitted in writing.

These may include: 

  • speed humps
  • traffic thresholds
  • roundabouts
  • traffic islands

The request/report must contain precise details relating to:

  • location (street, nearest cross street, suburb)
  • information supporting a request for a new device
  • concern expressed with an existing device

Council's Traffic Engineer investigates all requests and will contact the customer regarding their concern.

Council has a Local Area Traffic Management Policy which guides the outcome of requests.
