Latest News

Councillors and Council have continued talking with the Ministry of Transport about this issue and the need for services to be increased where they have been proposed by the Ministry for removal.

The Mayor met with local members to discuss Council's proposal and the Mayor, Deputy Mayor and Council officers met with the Ministry of Transport. Another meeting is scheduled.

Council believes that the proposal will be revised to include the concerns raised by the Holroyd community.

The Ministry of Transport will provide feedback to Council. This is not normally done and due to the amount of feedback from the community and Council they are unable to provide a definite time. When the Ministry of Transport has completed their review changes will be implemented.

Proposed Changes

This flyer provides details of the bus routes which will be lost under those changes.

Council has made a map showing both existing and proposed routes, as well as the areas that will not have a bus route within 400m (represented by blue circles). If you have Adobe Reader 6 or above you will be able to turn layers on and off to get a clear idea of will be changed (you can download the lasted version of Reader for free).

There is also a map by showing only the proposed routes.

The Council has major concerns about the impact of these changes and encourages residents to take the following action as part of our campaign to ensure these changes do not proceed as proposed:

Public Consultation Forum

On Wednesday 4 February the Holroyd Centre was filled with over 800 concerned residents and members of the local business community who attended at Holroyd City Councils second SAVE OUR BUSES Public Consultation Community Forum.

Those in attendance used the forum to voice their concerns to the Ministry of Transport  regarding the proposed changes to the local bus services. Support was given at the forum to local residents by local members of Parliament: The Hon. David Borger, MP, Minister for Western Sydney, The Hon. Joe Tripodi MP, Minister for Finance; Minister for Infrastructure; Minister for Regulatory Reform and Minister for Ports and Waterways and Mr Ninos Khoshaba, MP, Member for Smithfield were in attendance in support of concerned community members.

Holroyd City Mayor Councillor Greg Cummings said, Council was pleased by the overwhelming support from the community of the campaign and the response of local residents and the business community at last weeks meeting. It was obvious by the numbers that the proposed changes simply arent wanted by Holroyd.
