Demographics & Maps

Council provides access to two online resources showing characteristics of Holroyd's community in table and map form. These are the Community Profile and the Community Atlas.

Community Profile

Holroyd's Community Profile is a detailed online socio-demographic profile which can help you to understand your community, its characteristics and how it has changed over time.

It features:

  • data from the 1991, 1996, 2001 and 2006 Censuses
  • accurate time series analysis
  • benchmarks to other relevant areas
  • data in tables and charts
  • written descriptions and analysis of each area provides context
  • copy and paste all tables, maps, charts and text
  • PDF reports for hard copy production
  • powerful querying tool enables custom table production.

The profile can be used to:

  • plan the delivery of services and facilities
  • provide evidence for advocacy and funding submissions
  • attract investment and promote the Holroyd region
  • deliver demographic information to the community.

Community Atlas

The Holroyd Community Atlas is an interactive website which includes a series of online social atlas of thematic maps showing at the finest level of detail where specific groups of people live.

It features:

  • data is sourced from the Census
  • data is displayed in thematic maps at CCD level
  • summary tables are provided for each suburb benchmarked to the Holroyd LGA and region
  • powerful query tool for customised investigations
  • maps are interactive with pan and zoom features and information roll-overs
  • copy and paste all maps, tables and text
  • PDF reports for hard copy production.

The Atlas can be used to:

  • plan services and facilities for specific groups in the community by identifying priority hotspots for services and facilities
  • understand the demographic characteristics of a catchment area
  • present a strong demographic case for funding or advocacy
  • identify pockets of disadvantage, or hidden groups within the community
  • support resource planning by identifying concentrations of communities of interest (e.g. children, youth, elderly, disadvantaged)
  • identify groups of people who may be hidden by more general statistics
  • facilitate good policy though a deep understanding of the dynamics of different neighbourhoods
  • build a powerful case for funding or advocacy by presenting demographic evidence in its most visually persuasive form.
