Attending a Party
Going to a party is exciting and fun. Sometimes things can go wrong where people may get injured. Being prepared can help minimise the risk of you or someone else being hurt.
Some tips for attending a party are:
- Don’t accept drinks from people you don’t know.
- Don’t leave your bag unattended.
- Have pre-made arrangements on what time you will leave and how you will get home.

Hosting a Party
Parties are meant to be fun, safe and successful but problems can occur when parties have not been well planned or controlled such as bad behaviour due to alcohol abuse, uninvited guests or house damage.
It is important to remember that it is an offence to serve or provide alcohol to persons aged less than 18 years of age.
Some tips for having a safe party are:
- Let your neighbours know about the party.
- Minimise the risk of gatecrashers by securing entrances or allowing only those with invites into the party.
- Offer plenty of non-alcoholic drinks.
- Plan how the party will end.
- Plan how your guests can get home safely.
- Register your party with the local police. Your local Police can help you plan your party. Visit the MyNite site from the NSW Police Force website.
