Holroyd City Council

Reference & Information

The main reference collection is at Merrylands Library with smaller collections at Wentworthville and Greystanes libraries. Reference materials can be used in the library but not borrowed.

Reference resources include books, online databases, dictionaries, ABS material, encyclopedias, atlases and more.

There are special HSC, family history and local history webpages.

The library also provides current information on drugs and legal issues.

Inter-Library Loans

An inter-library loan (ILL) is a way of obtaining material that may not be available at Holroyd City Library.

If the item you require is not held here at Holroyd, simply ask the librarian at the Reference Desk about an ILL. Some of the materials we are able to obtain include books, journal articles, cassette kits, videos (including subtitled videos) and foreign language materials. We can also assist with general subject requests.

Once you have made your ILL request, library staff then search Libraries Australia to locate the material you have requested. Materials can usually be obtained within two weeks (subject to availability). Please be aware that requests for more specialised or difficult to locate materials can take longer.

A loan period of two weeks applies to all ILL materials, however extensions can be granted if the lending library does not require the immediate return of the item.

To place an ILL request you must be a member of the library. Most ILLs are free of charge however charges may apply to materials acquired from institutions outside the public network. We will contact you if there is to be any charge.

For enquiries please contact Information Services on 9840 9923.
