The Lower Prospect Canal Reserve, Greystanes – Council managed reserve. This canal supplied Sydney with water from 1888 to 1995 – 107 years. This feat of engineering is a significant heritage site.  You can walk or cycle along the 7.6km path, viewing the 15 points of interest identified from Prospect Reservoir in west to Pipehead at Guildford in the east at  235m above sea level. Being part of the RTAs cycleway network for south west Sydney region you have 6 entry / exits allowing local access to Blacktown, Wetherill Park, Fairfield, Greystanes, Merrylands, Guildford and on to Blue Mountains or to Sydney. The Canal played a part in conserving native flora and fauna, remanent Cumberland Plain bushland and wetlands. Regeneration is in progress.

Entry / Exit points are: Frank St at Guildford, Albert St cnr Tennyson Pde at Guildford, Cumberland Hwy at Merrylands, Gipps Rd at Greystanes, Hyland Rd at Greystanes and Prospect Reservoir.
