Over the past few decades there has been a growing recognition of the need to achieve sustainable communities.
'Sustainability', 'sustainable development' and 'ecologically sustainable development' are often used interchangeably and one of the most common definitions, from the Bruntland Report Our Common Future, is Sustainable development is the development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.
Holroyd City Council is committed to working with the community at the local level towards achieving a sustainable community.
