Government Rebates for Residential Energy and Water Savings
The NSW Government has rebates available to help householders replace electric hot water systems with climate friendly solar, heat pump and gas systems.
A rebate is available to help householders install rainwater tanks and $150 cashback provided on the purchase of a new washing machine with at least a 4.5 star water efficiency rating.
In addition to the NSW Government Rebates, the Federal Government also has rebates for the replacement of electric hot water systems and rainwater tanks and the installation of ceiling insulation.
Under the Australian Government's Energy Efficiency Homes Package home owners can receive:
- ceiling insulation worth up to $1600 to all Australian home owner-occupiers with limited or no ceiling insulation
- or a $1600 rebate on the costs of installing a solar hot water system.
And landlords and tenants (with landlord permission) are eligible for a rebate of up to $1000 to install ceiling insulation in their rental properties under the Low Emissions Assistance Plan for Renters. Landlords may also be eligible for either the ceiling insulation or the rebate for solar hot water.
The Australian Government is also providing rebates of up to $500 for households to install rainwater tanks or greywater systems.
The combination of State and Federal rebates provides NSW householders with up to $2800 back on climate-friendly hot water systems and up to $2000 for rainwater tanks.
