Government Rebates for Residential Energy and Water Savings
There are many government rebates available to enable the community to live more sustainably.
Hot Water Systems
Under the Australian Governments Renewable Energy Bonus Scheme a rebate of up to $1000 is available when you replace your existing household hot water system with a solar or $600 for a heat pump hot water system.

Rainwater Tanks
You may be eligible for a rebate from the Australian Government under their National Rainwater and Greywater Initiative of up to $500. Under this program rebates are available for both the purchase and installation of a new rainwater tank that is connected for internal reuse through toilet flushing and/or in the laundry, or for the purchase and installation of a permanent greywater treatment system. Home Power Savings Program
The NSW Government’s Home Power Savings Program is available to eligible pensioners and families on a low income and provides a home assessment from a trained energy expert and a Power Savings Kit with equipment to kick-start savings.
The free Power Savings Kit, worth over $200, contains a stand-by saver power board, energy efficient light bulbs, a low-flow showerhead, shower timer, tap aerator, draught-proofing strips and door snakes. These items are fully installed by the energy expert as part of the free assessment.
After the assessment households are sent a tailored Action Plan showing the top four power users in their home and other ways to save power and money. By using the free Kit and following the Action Plan, households can save up to 20% off their power use.
