What is the Healthy Holroyd Project?

The Healthy Holroyd project is a national preventative health initiative that has been funded by the Australian Government.

The project aims to improve the knowledge and capacity of Holroyd residents to undertake and maintain healthy lifestyles. Through free and low cost exercise programs, cooking classes and nutrition talks, it is hoped that many Holroyd residents will eat better, play harder and live quality lives free from the risk of chronic weight related diseases such as diabetes.

Not just looking outwards, Council will also be looking into its own practices to ensure that our policies, plans and procedures are conducive to allowing and encouraging healthy, active lifestyles for our residents.

Am I eligible to participate?

  • Are you recently or long term unemployed?
  • Are you a carer or pensioner?
  • Are you a student? (Over 18yrs of age)
  • Do you have a Health Care Card?

You must be a resident of the Holroyd Local Government Area, over 18 yrs of age and answer "yes" to one of the above questions to participate.

Come and join this fun, gentle physical activity program. It's suitable for all fitness levels, even if you haven't exercised before.

You can workout at your own pace under the safe supervision of a qualified exercise professional. You'll also receive generous incentives as a reward for your ongoing participation.
