The Community Safety Awards acknowledge and encourage initiatives undertaken by local groups to promote safe neighbourhoods and crime prevention. They aim to promote community participation, foster partnerships, develop programs and to promote positive media stories.
To be eligible for an award, groups/organisations must have developed/organised activities or projects which have made a significant impact or difference to community safety or crime prevention.
Two prizes are awarded each year; a major prize of $1000 and a commemorative plaque, and a minor prize of $250 and a certificate of recognition.
You can download the 2009 selection guidelines.
Schools, community groups, service providers, registered clubs and volunteer groups are encouraged to consider nominating for a Safety Award.
Nominations for this year's awards closed Friday 15 May 2009. Winners will be announced during Local Government Week.
Holroyd City Council, with the support of the Holroyd Community Safety Committee, established the Holroyd Community Safety Awards in 2006.
The Awards are held on an annual basis and are open to not-for-profit groups and organisations which provide services in the Holroyd Local Government Area.
