Family Day Care
Family Day Care (FDC) is a child care service provided in the carers home for children aged 6 weeks to 12 years old. You can download the fees for Family Day Care.
It is a great affordable balance between structured learning and a relaxed home environment, and is eligible for the Child Care Benefit.
Care can be provided during working hours but may also be available on weekends or overnight if needed. Family Day Care may be particularly ideal for shiftworkers who would struggle to find a centre open during their working hours.
Carers are carefully selected and trained by the Holroyd FDC, who monitor and provide on going support to carers. The scheme provides safety checks, training opportunities and play sessions. The Family Day Care office has been temporarily relocated to 32 Walpole Street, Merrylands.
Numbers in each home are limited to five children under school age, or seven children under 12 years old. This can include the carers own children.
Children benefit from:
- Secure small group environments with 1:1 interactions.
- Individual developmental programs to meet the childs changing needs.
- Daily activities such as painting, crafts and puzzles.
- Opportunities to mix with children of different ages.
- Playsessions held at the FDC office three times a week. These are facilitated by our trained staff and offer a variety of experiences.
- Regular organised outings - such as visits to the library, the childrens museum, or Fairfield City Farm - are coordinated throughout the year.

My Son, Pranav went to a family care for about 18 months. I could say that after a initial hiccup for a couple of days, he settled down with the carer nicely and started enjoying his stay in the care. As parents, we could see amazing changes in him when we moved him to a Family carer (Seema). In fact, Pranav refused to come home and was willing to go to the care even on holidays.
I would like to thank Seema for her excellent efforts in caring for the kids and also for creating a home-like atmosphere for my son, Pranav. I could say that Pranav participates in all activities, talks and behaves well. Again, I would like to thank Seema for her wonderful contribution.

I find the Council service easily accessible for enrollments. Reliable and friendly with regards to care and my daughter is always excited by the many activities that she, as a child gets to be involved in. Highly recommended for the working parent.

It has been a pleasure for our child to attend family daycare.
Ramaa is affectionate, very careful and always tries to comfort a child and make him/her feel at home. In situations when my child occasionally ran out of food, nappies, paracetamol or any basic necessity, her stores were always there and the child never went lacking.
She constantly involves the children in many creative activities, so that they are constantly learning many new things simultaneously. This was our child’s first time out-of-home on his own experience and I am so glad that Ramaa made it such a wonderful one for him. Thanks!!

We moved our son from a long day care to a family day care. We are very happy with our decision because our son is enjoying his stay with the family day care. He has started participating in activities, talks freely, eats well and also talks a lot about his day care after he comes back home. In fact there are days where he refuses to come with us in the evening and wants to continue playing in the day care. Family day care makes my son feel at home.

The support from Maria and Holroyd Family Day Care’s curriculum is really amazing, for example; individual developmental programs, portfolios set up for each individual child, as well as the opportunity to get along with other kids, play session etc.

We have been associated with Ramaa for the last two years with my daughter Saisha. Ramaa has been extremely proactive as a day carer. She has helped my daughter excel in communication skills, cognitive abilities and social skills. My friends have been noticing the massive improvement in my daughter, all thanks to Ramaa. She is sensitive to the needs of my child and takes all the necessary precautions in line with health and safety requirements. She is patient with my daughter and that level of care is provided to all the children.
I am impressed with the quality of day care referred by Holroyd Council and would certainly recommend family and friends to use your services.
