International Day of People with a Disability

International Day of People with Disability is celebrated worldwide on 3 December every year. It recognises the achievements and contributions of people with disability.

The day brings together people with disability and the general community and aims to:

  • showcase the skills, abilities, contributions and achievements of people with disability
  • promote a positive image of people with disability
  • involve people with disability and the broader community in activities to celebrate and raise awareness of the Day.

Carers Week

Carers Week is a national awareness week held during October each year right across Australia. The event was established to promote and raise awareness of the valuable role that carers play in our community and to generate discussion about carer issues. Carers Week also provides an opportunity for carers to come together, support one another and share ideas and information.

Seniors Week

NSW Seniors Week celebrates the valuable contribution seniors make to our community. It is our way of saying thank you to seniors and a great opportunity for all the generations to join with older people to celebrate. Seniors Week 2010 will be celebrated between 21-28 March 2010.

Volunteer Week

Volunteer Week is celebrated each year to promote volunteering and give organisations an opportunity to say thank you to their volunteers. Volunteer Week 2010 is celebrated between 10-16 May.

International Volunteer Day (IVD)

IVD is now celebrated world wide on 5 December each year with thousands of volunteers involved in a range of IVD initiatives including clean-up campaigns, conferences, exhibitions, morning teas and many other activities all aimed to highlight the role of volunteers in their communities.
