Holroyd City Council places considerable value on its heritage assets as evidence of the way previous residents lived, worked, relaxed and thought.
Many buildings, structures and areas within the City of Holroyd have been identified as items with historical, cultural and/or aesthetic significance at a local, regional and, in some cases, state scale. There is a list of heritage items with photos and descriptions.
Holroyd City Council is committed to preserving these items to ensure that current and future generations are provided with an opportunity to understand how people of the past conducted their lives. Council provides grants and awards to encourage owners of heritage items.
Councils Strategic Planning Section is responsible for the identification of heritage buildings/items and conservation areas as well as the preparation of plans and strategies to ensure their preservation. Items considered by Council as being of heritage significance are contained within Holroyd Local Environmental Plan 1991.
In addition, DCP Part H - Heritage & Conservation should be viewed. Owners/Occupiers are directed to both of these documents to determine whether or not items are heritage listed and what restrictions/requirements there are.
