Holroyd City Council

Approvals & Lodging

It is important when considering new construction, uses or renovation to be clear about whether you will need approval from Holroyd Council to proceed.

Major developments (for example, industrial/commercial development, townhouses, residential flats) will probably need a development application. This will involve making sure your development is permissible and lodging an application with Council. A construction certificate will also be required.

Minor developments (for example, driveways, patios, water tanks, swimming pools, dwelling alterations and additions, new dwellings) may be considered either exempt or complying development if they meet certain criteria. In this case no development application is needed, although a complying development certificate will be necessary for complying development.
