In 2007 Council conducted a comprehensive community consultation process to inform the preparation of various city-wide strategies and planning documents that will guide future land use and development. Council sought to engage a broad cross-section of the community in this consultation process, and over the course of several months a number of workshops, focus groups and briefing sessions were held to capture people’s thoughts and visions about our City and its future.
The preliminary consultations identified a range of views around future land use and development in Holroyd. The second stage of the process was the ‘Holroyd Speaks’ forum, held on 10 October 2007, which involved an in-depth exploration of the issues and sought consensus on various options for planning Holroyd’s future.
The outcomes of the forum informed the development of a set of strategic directions to guide the future planning of the City in relation to land use & development, population, transport & accessibility, the urban landscape and the development approval process.
These strategic directions are documented in the final report on the outcomes of the Holroyd’s Future consultation process. This report will inform the preparation of Council’s Residential Development Strategy as well as its new Local Environmental Plan and supporting Development Control Plan, which will guide and control future land use and development throughout the City.
